Jihane Mrad Balaa was born and raised in a small town in the mountains of Lebanon.
She experienced early success at the age of 16 in front of the camera as a recurring actress on two hit Lebanese Tv shows. From Lebanon, Jihane found a new home in Miami, FL. and went on to earn a degree in Film Production, Theatre Arts and French literature from the University of Miami.
In 2007 Jihane relocated to Los Angeles where she achieved a successful career in the film industry as a Camera Woman. She has Camera assisted for over 15 years on hit Tv shows including American Horror Story, 911, Kominsky Method and films ” Bumblebee”. This career gave her a front row seat to shadow and observe over 20 directors which sparked a fire in her to pursue Directing.
Having completed the Ryan Murphy Directors program in 2019, Jihane teamed up with NBA player Thanasis Antetokounmpo to produce and Direct her first feature Film Twisted Vines in 2022.
The movie found success on the film festival circuit, earning selections in 13 film festivals and winning 6 awards, including Best Director and Best Feature film. Twisted Vines was distributed by Vision Films.
That project put her on the map as a Director and landed her a directing spot on the hit tv show 9-1-1, a Ryan Murphy series with a budget of $9 million per episode. She in now a member of the Directors Guild of America.
Jihane is Fluent in English, French and Arabic, her goal is to find the balance between Hollywood, Europe and the Middle East where she can bring her creativity, hard work, unique perspective and Hollywood expertise and put them on the big and silver Screen.
